Chișinău (Moldova)
Chişinău is a good place to start any Moldovan travel adventure. Not only does Moldova’s capital city take pride in its expansive green spaces, including more than 23 lakes and numerous large parks, but Chişinău is also filled with interesting things to see like its museums, churches, outdoor markets, historical monuments, theatres and much more.
Wander Chişinău’s streets and you’ll find diverse architecture, including 19th-century buildings and grand Soviet architecture built from white limestone and modern urban design. Add to this a large selection of quality restaurants, hotels, wine bars, local fashion, breweries, and shopping and you’ll see how Chişinău has it all, often at a lower cost than many other European cities.
Chişinău the capital of the Republic of Moldova, appears in documents starting with July 17, 1436. Later, in 1466, through a document issued at the court of Stephen the Great, the Land of Chişinău, from the Albișoara Well, together with the mill, was given to Vlaicu Pârcălab, Ștefan cel Mare’s uncle. So, Vlaicu-Pârcălab (whose name is given to one of the central streets) was, as they say, the owner of the future capital, which then returned to his sons and grandchildren for about a hundred years.
