Located 3,326 meters above sea level, among the beautiful Peruvian Andes, the city of Cusco, also known as Qosqo, was declared by Unesco, the Archaeological Capital of America. It was the capital of the Inca Empire, considered by them as the "Navel of the World" and was the vital center of the Tahuantinsuyo (Empire of the Incas). It was also the capital of the Spanish crown in America, before Lima was founded in 1535 at the time of the colonies.
Walk through its streets where time seems to have stopped and appreciate the colonial architecture built on ancient Inca palaces whose stones remain intact.
On a walk to the traditional and picturesque neighborhood of San Blas, you will find high quality local crafts, as well as traditional bars and cafes, surrounded by cobblestone streets and balconies from where you can see this neighborhood and the entire city of Cusco.
It is almost mandatory to visit the imposing fortresses, temples that the Incas built around Cusco, such as Sacsayhuaman, Qoricancha, Qenko and Tambomachay, among others.
It is impossible not to mention Machu Picchu, an important tourist destination of impressive Inca architecture; made with originality and perfection in stone, located 130 km northeast of the city of Cusco, 600 m approx. on the Urubamba River. Inside this Inca citadel is estimated a total of 150 houses; houses of a single room, which also highlights the sundial (or Intihuatana). This is an astronomical observatory that was erected in a strategic place of the citadel, from where the Incas could observe the movements of the sun.
