Erfurt (Germany)
Martin Luther once praised the city as "Erfordia turrita" - Erfurt with its many towers - because the towers of 25 parish churches, 15 monasteries and convents and ten chapels stretched towards the sky.
Erfurt's medieval city center is one of the best preserved and largest in Germany. The numerous monasteries and churches provide a historical and cultural experience. The city is full of charming houses, nooks and alleyways. The inner old town still has a largely medieval appearance. Numerous Gothic parish churches, burgher and merchant houses, mostly built in the Renaissance-Baroque style, create a romantic atmosphere.
Erfurt impresses with its beauty in the middle of the green heart of Germany and offers numerous green islands of relaxation and recreation despite its urbanity and pulsating city life.
Numerous nurseries made Erfurt world-famous as early as the 19th century with successful breeding and seeds under the nickname "flower city". Even the Ega Park with its themed gardens and Europe's largest ornamental flowerbed bear witness to Erfurt's great art of horticulture.
