"Petru Costin Collections Gallery of Ialoveni District Council"

Petru Costin was born on 18 May 1958, on the International Museum Day, and he is very proud of this fact. The village of Selistea Noua in the district of Calarasi is where his passion for collecting, which he learned as a child, originated. Colonel Petru Costin, a customs officer, economist by profession, author of several scientific works in the field of history, has been collecting and restoring old objects for current and future generations for several decades. He has participated in hundreds of exhibitions in the country and abroad and has received dozens of awards and diplomas, which are exhibited in the Gallery. He holds the Guinness World Record for the largest collection of horseshoes in the world, all of which were collected in the lands of the Republic of Moldova. He also created the largest map of Moldova made of coins, together with the children of the high school of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova, which is waiting for its turn to be inscribed in the Book of Records.

The "Petru Costin Collections Gallery of the Ialoveni District Council" is located in the very centre of the town. Ialoveni, on the way to Mileștii Mici winery, which holds another Guinness World Record. In 2013 the Ialoveni district administration and the Alba Iulia County Council of Romania helped him to convert a former school building in Ialoveni into a gallery. Behind the gallery is the room "USSR: History of an Era", which has been preserved as part of the heritage.

Due to the diversity of exhibits, Guinness Certificates, Interrecord this Gallery is unique in the Republic of Moldova, having a historical-cultural objective. Starting from November 2020, the Gallery is part of the "Guinness World Records Trail in the Republic of Moldova".
