Juneau (United States of America)
The capital of the state of Alaska and the 2nd largest city in the United States of America by area. This is the city of Juneau. Originally a mining post, it became a town founded in 1880 by the Americans after they bought Alaska from the Russians. The town was named after Joe Juneau, who found gold in this area.
This isolated city, which can only be reached by plane or boat, has its own charm. The nature that surrounds Juneau offers a truly powerful experience that can be fulfilled on the many trails that lead further inland or at nearby Mendenhall Glacier and Nugget Falls, which immerse visitors in the atmosphere of the true Alaskan wilderness.
Today's Juneau will also take visitors through the city's history and local culture at one of the museums that focus on the life and art of the indigenous Tlingit tribe. A stay in this picturesque city should not miss out on observing whales, bears, eagles and other animals that can be found in the nearby wilderness, as well as exploring the mines where Juneau's history was made.
