Kamenický Šenov (Czech Republic)
Kamenický Šenov is a town located in the north of the Czech Republic in the Liberec Region, in the Česká Lípa District.
The town lies at an altitude of 350-550 metres on the border of two landscape units - the Bohemian Central Highlands and the Lusatian Mountains, which are also protected landscape areas of the same name. Approximately 3 900 inhabitants live here. The town is connected to Děčín and Česká Lípa by the first class road I/13.
The history of Kamenický Šenov has been connected for more than 300 years with glassmaking - the production and refinement of glass and chandeliers. In 1856, the oldest glass school in the world was founded here, where students are still trained in the traditional fields of painting, engraving and cutting glass, as well as in the design of lighting fixtures. The glorious past and present of glassmaking is captured by the objects concentrated in the local glass museum.
