The city of Levice is the largest city in southern Pohronia. It is an important economic and cultural center in the lowlands near the Hron River and at the foot of the Štiavnické Hills.

The first written mention of the city of Levice dates from 1156. Levice is a city with a rich history, which is evidenced by the dominant feature of the city, the "Levice Castle", an important point of anti-Turkish defense. The first mention of the castle dates back to 1318. The Tekovské Museum with a rich collection of historical artefacts is located on the grounds of Levický Castle.

You can visit the historic manor wine cellars right in the city center. Their history dates back to the 16th century, when the estate at Levick Castle stored more than 46,000 liters of wine in its manor cellars directly under the castle. You can also visit the city cellar of Levice - an exposition of the history of viticulture and winemaking in the region - during the sightseeing program while exploring the city of Levice.

The town of Levice has an excellent location as a starting point for summer and winter tourism. In its vicinity, you can complete several tourist and educational trails, such as Levická Kalvária or the nearby Krížné vrch and Horšianska dolina. Visitors can take a hike to the nearby Battles of the Red Army Memorial, which is located on Vápnik Hill (Šiklóš). In its vicinity there is also a unique site called Golden onyx, a mineral of golden yellow color.

There are three well-known and well-visited thermal swimming pools in its vicinity. Margita – Ilona with summer operation, Santovka with summer operation and Podhájska with year-round operation.

Levice lies at the foot of the Štiavnické hills, which are sought after by tourists of all ages. Visitors can take a number of tourist and educational trails here, as well as cycle routes.
