Manchester (United Kingdom)
The city of Manchester, located in the north-west of England, is historically a very important metropolitan district. Manchester played a major role in the Industrial Revolution, which made it a wealthy city. This is reflected in the local architecture, which features Victorian-style buildings on the one hand and skyscrapers such as the Beetham Tower, the UK's second tallest building, on the other hand.
For shoppers, Manchester is the place to be. With a tradition of textile manufacturing, the city has gradually become a fashion hub. There are many shopping malls, and fashion stores that offer affordable prices to their customers.
Manchester is also the cradle of world football, thanks to two famous clubs, Manchester City and Manchester United. As well as the stadiums, sports enthusiasts can visit the National Football Museum in the city.
