Průhonice (Czech Republic)
Every year, Průhonice is a traditional destination for many visitors from all over the country and a popular recreational area for the inhabitants of the surrounding area. The advantage is good transport accessibility - by car 6 km from Prague on the D1 motorway - EXIT 6, by public bus from Prague from the metro line C, station Opatov.
The village currently has 2 964 permanent inhabitants. The area of 753 ha originally consisted of three separate villages - Průhonice, Hole and Rozkoš. The most important sights include the Průhonice Park and Castle with the Romanesque Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary (originally a chapel) and the Dendrological Garden. The first references to the village date back to 1187, when the Romanesque chapel of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary was consecrated, and to 1270, when Zdislav and Oldřich of Průhonice were appointed as the purgator of Prague Castle.
