Shaoxing (China)
Shaoxing, whose name was given to it during the Song Dynasty, is well located in relation to Shanghai and Hangzhou, making it a fantastic side destination. It is known for its colorful culture, traditional, unique landscapes owing to the Yangtze River, and ancient architecture. There are many waterways that cut through the city along with over 4,000 old stone bridges of all sizes and styles.
This beautiful scenery has caused it to be home to many famous Chinese politicians such as China’s first premier, Zhou Enlai, and literary geniuses such as Lu Xun. Shaoxing set the location for the majority of Xun’s works. Further lending a connection between yesterday and today are the many classrooms, gardens, shops, and stages that still exist.
Since the city is more than 4,000 years old, it also has countless historical relics to boast. Dayu, a leader of an old tribe, is said to have visited Shaoxing twice in investigations for water control. Today’s visitors can visit his mausoleum and learn about his journey and influence.
