Tarragona (Spain)
Tarragona is a port city located in northeast Spain on the Costa Daurada by the Mediterranean Sea.
The city is best known for its historic center, a UNESCO World Heritage Site full of medieval monuments from the Roman era when Tarragona was the most important center of the Roman Empire in the Iberian Peninsula. Monuments from this period are scattered all over the city. The most famous are the Roman Amphitheatre, the Circ Romá and the Pont del Diable aqueduct.
The old town of Tarragona is certainly the most interesting part of the city, where every year the famous Carnival is held with parades attended by at least 5000 participants in unique costumes.
No one will be bored when visiting Tarragona. And when you get tired of the sights, you can head to the nearby theme park, one of the largest in Spain, called PortAventura World.
