Třeboň (Czech Republic)
The South Bohemian town of Třeboň is a charming old town with almost 8,500 inhabitants. It is situated near the Austrian border, between České Budějovice and Jindřichův Hradec, in the charming gently undulating landscape of the Třeboň Basin, in a landscape with deep forests, vast meadows and countless large and small ponds.
Because of the unique beauty of its historic centre, Třeboň was declared a municipal conservation area in 1976 and has had the status of a spa town since 1960. Thanks to its cultural and spa tradition, its wealth of historical monuments and natural beauty and its location in the middle of the Třeboň Protected Landscape Area and the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, it has become a popular destination for tourists from home and around the world and one of the most popular destinations in the Czech Republic.
The town of Třeboň has eight local districts. Six of them - Branná, Břilice, Holičky, Nová Hlína, Přeseka and Stará Hlína - are villages attached to the town. The town itself is divided into Třeboň I, comprising the historic centre and the area to the east of it, and Třeboň II, extending to the south and north-west.
